Using the base plate as reference, the egg FBX was imported into Maya, where the reflection on the chrome ball guided adjustments to the light's angle, color, and texture. The composite was then taken into Nuke for final adjustments to the overall shadows, lighting, and the egg's color.
Four reference photos, shot under identical conditions. A gray ball, gray cube, and chrome ball capture the light's direction, shadows, and brightness. The fourth is a clean plate of the egg alone, used for compositing.
To verify that the composite holds up throughout the animation, the egg is animated with movement.
